Chaotic
I have looked at this image for weeks trying to decide why it appeals to me. Numerous times I have been tempted to disregard it, challenging myself on where it fits in the genre of landscape photography. I know many people will turn their noses up and be highly critical of it, particularly those who prefer the highly saturated contrasty images that abound social media. However, that is not the world I live in and when I reminded myself why I take photographs it was an easy decision to include it as my image of the month. I take photographs of subjects that appeal to me regardless of the views of others. In this case I love the chaotic nature of the trees, the criss-crossing of fallen trunks, and the subtle autumnal colours just prior to the arrival of winter. The image will never win any prizes, but I don’t care. I simply appreciate it for how it makes me feel.
